Barbara Louise Leiding — online screen name: Tostiana — studied screenwriting at NYU, USC and at writers’ conferences in New York, Los Angeles and Hawaii. Her B.A. is from University of Colorado at Boulder.
She is a John Hughes Award winner (2nd Place) for Dancing with Jou Jou (comedy). She was nominated for a Fade In Award for The Zen of Otto (comedy/thriller with a soul); and for a Filmmatic Award for The Devil Plays Bingo (comedy/elevated horror).
Recent projects include: Tennis + Guacamole (sports/comedy); Hula (dramedy/LGBTQ); Blue Moon (action comedy/fantasy); and Mayday Sings for Her Supper (comedy/live action or animation).
Also in the mix are Take Me to Tallulah’s (dark comedy); I’ve Got Headshots (thriller/comedy); The Pimp Takes a Wife (dramedy); Bernice Bobs Her Hair (comedy/adaptation); and The Night I was Rescued by the Magnetic Seaspray Force (children/fantasy adventure).
She has worked as an executive ghostwriter for an international firm in New York City. After the company was sold, she trained as a mediator. Pro bono work has included many speaking engagements, most recently on the topic of “Personality Assessment” through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator for the annual conference of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators.
